The second-oldest film industry in the world is that of India. It also has the world's largest film industry in terms of the number of films produced each year. Every year, India produces around 2000 films, compared to an average of 800 in Hollywood. The best regional film industries are the reason for this. India produces films in a variety of languages that no other country in the world can match. 1. Bollywood
Bollywood is a Hindi-language film business in India that began in Bombay (now Mumbai) in the 1930s and has grown into a massive film empire.

The Tamil film industry, based in Chennai, is India's second-largest in terms of revenue and distribution. The Tamil cinema industry has a loyal following not only in Tamil Nadu and South India, but also in other areas of the world, ranging from Southeast Asia and Oceania to sections of Europe, Africa, and North America.

Known as Kollywood, the industry is home to some of India's most famous performers, including Rajinikanth and Kamal Hasan. Chennai also serves as a secondary hub for Bollywood, other South Asian industries, including Sri Lankan film.

3. Telugu
The Telugu film industry is another South Indian film industry that trails Bollywood in terms of popularity. The film business, based in Hyderabad, which also happens to be home to Ramoji Film City, the world's largest film studio complex, has had a huge impact on the direction of mainstream commercial cinema in India.

This film is also known by its Industry name as Tollywood holds the Guinness World Record for the world's largest film production complex. Tollywood has recently received international fame as a result of the popularity of the Baahunali franchise.

4. Marathi
Marathi cinema is a regional film industry in India that produces films in the Marathi language. It is situated in Mumbai and is one of India's oldest and most reputable film industries. On May 18, 1912, the first Marathi film, ‘Shree Pundalik,' directed by Dadasaheb Torne, was released in India.
Although since overshadowed by Bollywood; this regional film industry is still very much venerated within the Indian film industry and still successfully holding down its own within the Indian film industry.

5. Mollywood
The Malayalam cinema industry is also known as Mollywood. It is based in Kerala, an Indian state in the south, and produces films in Malayalam. Mollywood's gross box office is smaller than that of other film industries like Bollywood, Tollywood, and Kollywood. Only because of their technical finesse and expertise has this business achieved special distinction in world cinema.

As at the beginning of the 21st century, the Indian film industry—of which Bollywood remained the most important component—was producing up to 1,000 feature films per year in all of India's major languages and a variety of cities, and international audiences among South Asians in the United Kingdom and the United States were beginning to develop. Formulaic plots, superbly choreographed battle scenes, dazzling song-and-dance routines, emotion-charged melodrama, and larger-than-life heroes remained staples of Bollywood films.
