The Walk of the Stars is a section of the Bandstand Promenade in Bandra, Mumbai honouring Bollywood film stars. The path features about six statues of famous Bollywood actors as well as about 100 brass plates embossed with the handprints and signatures of other stars. The walk is inspired by the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It was inaugurated by actress Kareena Kapoor on 28 March 2012, with actor Randhir Kapoor and filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar also present.
As an industry that alongside science and technology, helped to put India firmly into recognition globally; inspiring a unique viewpoint of India as it told India's stories the Indian way; such contributions to inspiring national consciousness and global awareness of India's ways and cultures can never be completely told without mentioning the huge impact of the Kapoor's family.
The Kapoors are a Bollywood Dynasty that will not be forgotten in a hurry.
"Kapoor Family", is also revered as "The First Family of Indian Cinema", with at least 5 generations of direct descendants over 93 years in the film industry. Numerous members of the family, both direct biological descendants and those married into the family, have had prolific careers as actors, film directors, and producers.
"The Pioneer" founder of the dynasty was "The Patriarch", Prithviraj Kapoor, who was the first member of the family to begin acting in movies with his 1928 debut film Do Dhari Talwar. He is best remembered for the evergreen movie "Mughal-e-Azam" which was released in 1960 in black and white in which he played the role of the Mughal emperor Akbar. The movie was re-released in full colour picture format with Dolby Digital sound on 12th November 2004.
Prithviraj Kapoor was also a pioneer of Indian theatre and the founding member of IPTA. His son Raj Kapoor was the most influential actor and director in Hindi cinema. The genesis generation or the earliest linear generation of the Kapoor family tree to ever act in the films was Prithviraj Kapoor's father, Basheshwarnath Kapoor, who debuted as an actor in the 1951 film Awaara, which was produced, directed, and starred in the lead role by his grandson Raj Kapoor.
The Kapoor's family influence in Bollywood is far-reaching. This fact is underscored by the fact that eight members of the dynasty have already been honoured in the Bollywood "Walk of Stars", its a version of Hollywood's "Hall of Fame". These include Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Prithviraj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, and Shashi Kapoor.
Prithviraj Kapoor's family has been a major part of the Bollywood film industry for a long time. Prithviraj became a part of the industry in 1927. His children Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, and Shashi Kapoor then became path-breaking actors in Bollywood. Raj Kapoor's sons Randhir and Rishi Kapoor acted in movies and were successful actors. Rishi Kapoor married actor Neetu Kapoor. Karishma and Kareena Kapoor, daughters of Randhir Kapoor, became famous Bollywood actors while Rishi's son Ranbir Kapoor is also a successful actor in the film industry.
